It's recommended that you back up your existing files, since they will be lost if you just replace them.

The start up and shut down screens come in sets of three:

"Logo.sys" is the screen that you see while windows starts up.  Put this file in the root directory of the boot drive (usually "c:\" )

"Logos.sys" is the message that tells you it's safe to turn off your computer.  Place this file in the Windows directory (e.g. c:\windows)
"Logow.sys" is the screen that you see while Windows is shutting down.  This file goes in the same directory as the previous one (e.g. c:\windows)
